Backyard Botanist is a science led ecosystem restoration initiative working across Eastern India to regenerate degraded landscapes. We specialise in mangrove restoration, native afforestation, and community driven conservation, using native biodiversity, nature based solutions, and evidence based methods to build climate resilient ecosystems.
Our work goes beyond plantation. We design and implement ecosystem restoration projects that deliver measurable environmental impact and long term ecological value, combining ecological expertise with data driven monitoring and close collaboration with communities and partners.

Co-Founder
Manir holds a Master’s degree in Botany and brings over seven years of experience in large-scale ecosystem restoration, contributing to the plantation of more than 10 million trees. He has hands-on expertise in both the development and auditing of forestry carbon projects, and maintains a strong interest in the application of AI within environmental systems.

Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree and brings over five years of experience in CSR partnerships and urban afforestation. He has led projects across Miyawaki forests, mangrove restoration, and sustainable landscaping, while also working on agroforestry and carbon finance to support farmer livelihoods and long-term environmental impact.
GIS Consultant
Harish holds a Postgraduate Diploma from IIRS in Forest Resources & Ecosystem Analysis and brings over five years of experience in forestry and carbon projects. He specializes in GIS and remote sensing, using spatial data to support ecosystem restoration, carbon assessments, and evidence-based environmental planning.
